All registration and payment is online. Keep reading for the link.
Reception and banquet are now fully booked, with no more tickets. There is a sign-up sheet in the Appleton Tower concourse to trade spare tickets.
No printed proceedings. All conferences have electronic proceedings, and every participant gets a USB stick with full papers. There are instructions on how to buy printed proceedings at the desk in Appleton Tower concourse.
No refunds. There are no refunds of any fees after the start of FLoC on 9 July.
Once you have registered and paid online, you will receive a receipt by email, and can then collect your registration pack from the FLoC conference office in the gallery above the Appleton Tower concourse. The office will be open every day from 8am to 6pm. Now follow the link to the online registration form.
The online registration form allows you to register for conferences and workshops, and make payment by credit or debit card. You can book campus accommodation separately. Summary
FLoC 2010 will be based in the Appleton Tower in the heart of the University of Edinburgh, with workshops also in the award-winning Informatics Forum. Edinburgh is a beautiful city and we are anticipating up to 1,000 delegates between 9 and 21 July. Please register as early as possible to take advantage of discounted prices before 17 May and to allow efficient conference organisation. Late registrations are an unnecessary administrative burden and a substantial premium will be charged for registrations after 30 June.
All fees are in UK Pound Sterling (GBP) and include taxes where relevant.
Registration Categories
There are two categories of participants for all conferences and workshops:
- General rate
- Student rate
Students receive a 40% discount on conference and workshop fees; however, their registration does not include tickets to the conference banquet.
Students wishing to register at the reduced rates must fax proof of student status (Subject: FLoC Student Status) to +44 131 650 6513, or send a PDF file with proof of student status (Subject: FLoC Student Status) to floc-admin@inf.ed.ac.uk
A limited number of travel grants are available. See the student travel support page for more information.
Online Registration Procedure
Registration services are supplied by The University of Edinburgh on their ePay web store. The following details may help you complete the process.
Note: If you haven't yet entered your credit-card number, then you haven't yet booked a place.
The site is here.
The site requires your browser to accept both cookies and Javascript from the ed.ac.uk domain. This should not be a problem unless you have manually disabled these.
To use the ePay store, you must first provide an email address and password to set up an account. This also means that you can return later to finish a partially-completed booking, or to book additional events.
The account setup page requests name and address details. These are used in the credit-card payment process, and should match the expectations of your bank. You have a separate opportunity later to enter professional title and affiliation.
The ePay site offers general and student registration as alternative packages: within each of these are bundled the individual conferences and workshops.
You can book for yourself, for someone else, or for several people. The site distinguishes between details of the person making the booking, and of the conference participant. Where this is the same person, details can be automatically copied across.
The site presents a cycle of pages to record the various details of your booking. Once you have completed this cycle, it is possible to re-enter it and change your choices as many times as necessary.
Once your choices are complete, actually making the purchase requires several confirmation steps, beginning with "Add to Basket" and "Proceed to Checkout". Successful completion is acknowledged with the message Thank you for shopping at the University of Edinburgh and an itemised receipt. You are then automatically logged out of the site.
There is no "log out" button during purchase. However, selecting "Home" in the navigation panel will take you to a page that may say at the top-right hand corner "Hi, you are logged in as ..., if you are not ..., please click here". Do so, and you will be logged out.

Registration in Stages
You can book and pay for one event initially, and then add further components later — workshops, banquet tickets, etc. There are no penalties for ordering items individually, and you can use the same email address and password to access your account on the registration site.
Payment
We are able to accept payment with cards issued by VISA (Visa, Visa Debit, Visa Electron) and MasterCard (MasterCard, Maestro, Solo). We cannot take payment from American Express. If this is a problem for you, please contact floc-admin@inf.ed.ac.uk to investigate alternative arrangements.
Accommodation
FLoC has negotiated preferential rates on campus accommodation and in some city hotels, which you need to book separately.

Feedback Survey
The Edinburgh Convention Bureau have asked us to help in evaluating visitors' experience of the city. If you agree to this during registration, then once FLoC is over we shall send you an email from them seeking feedback on what Edinburgh does well, and what could be improved.
FLoC will not give the Convention Bureau your email address, or any other contact details.
